Struggling Nedbank Cup champions, Free State Stars, have shown Belgian coach, Luc Eymael the door following a string of less than impressive results.
According to the club’s General Manager, Rantsi Mokoena, Eymael has been released from his contract through “mutual consent”, adding that the hunt for a new coach is underway.
It is fast proving to be a forgettable week for Eymael who was recently found guilty by the PSL for breaching protocol when he refused to grant the media a post-match interview. He was slapped with a wholly suspended R100 000 fine.
“We will use the two weeks break to look for a suitable replacement for the coach and will make the necessary announcement as and when things unfold,” Mokoena said.
Stars have been struggling to find the form that saw them dispatching the likes of Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup semi-final match at Moses Mabhida Stadium last season before beating Maritzburg United to lift the club’s second major piece of silverware.
“We want to take this opportunity to thank the coach for the success that he has brought to the club and for his effort in the current season. We would also like to wish him the best of luck with his future endeavours,” added Mokena.
FS Stars are currently lying 9th on the ABSA Premiership log having amassed 13 points from 14 matches.
