A total of 57 teachers from the Free State who made it to the provincial finals in 13 categories are set to be honoured by the Department of Education at the National Teaching Awards (NTA) set for Friday, 19 October, 2018 at Imvelo Safari Lodge just outside Bloemfontein.
Now in its 19th year, the awards ceremony seeks to reward educators for their excellence in going beyond the call of duty to ensure that learners receive quality educate.
The Member of the Executive Committee (MEC) in the Free State, Dr Tate Makgoe, a firm believer in the importance of teachers in the education matrix, is expected to honour outstanding educators with prizes.
“Teachers are the most valuable asset of the Free State Department of Education,” said Makgoe.
The province’s best educators are expected to represent the Free State when they compete with other contestants from other provinces at a national level.
Transport Education Training Authority Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Maphefo Anno- Frempong, is expected to address the teachers on Friday.
